QUALITY STANDARD CERTIFICATION FOR
TRANSLATION SERVICES
It is with
great satisfaction for the world of
translation that GLOSSIMA & WEHRHEIM
announce their certification by EUROCERT
on 12/10/2006, as meeting the
requirements of the European Quality
Standard for Translation Services ΕΝ
15038.
What does this accreditation mean? Quite
simply, that the quality of the
translation is guaranteed.
Unlike ISO
EN 9001/2000, which is designed to
assure the quality of the system
implemented by each enterprise, but not
necessarily the end result, the object
of this new European Quality Standard is
to assure the quality of the final
product.
We believe
that this is a real milestone, on the
one hand because users of translation
services can now choose a translation
company based on criteria that provide
guarantees of the quality of the final
result, and on the other because it
represents a fundamental change on the
institutional level, since the Greek
competent authorities will now have to
review their definition of “official
translation”, and perhaps even recognise
the translator as a qualified
professional who pursues, with high
levels of knowledge, education, training
and skills, an independent and very
demanding activity with specific
requirements imposed by the needs of the
contemporary market and today’s new
economy.
This
certification sets the seal on our
company’s constant pursuit of quality in
translation. At the moment, we appear to
be the first company in the world to
receive this certification, which
engages our professional liability in
the event of translation error. We hope
that other firms will very soon follow,
for we believe that this is the only way
in which the profession can be raised to
the position it deserves.
