The
Wehrheim Translation and Interpretation Bureau was
founded in Athens in 1982 by Anne Wehrheim. In 1989,
it relocated to Thessaloniki, where it continued its
operations.
Glossima was founded in 1990 by Savvas Pavlidis and
Paschalis Dalambakis. Based in Paris, its principal
aim was to oversee terminology research for the
European Commission's EDIC programme. To be more
precise, the objective of EDIC is to make
substantial additions to the Eurodicautom
terminology bank which covers the whole range of
technological and scientific fields of knowledge.
In
1992, Glossima relocated to Greece where, based in
Thessaloniki, it was in a position to pursue its
objective of monitoring terminology research more
effectively and to penetrate the Greek translation
market as well.
In
1995, the two translation bureaux joined forces to
establish the Glossima & Wehrheim company, so as to
be more effective in meeting the increased needs of
the translation market, both in Greece and abroad.
The
company's success is due first and foremost to its
selection of translators. The strict criteria
governing their selection include university degrees
and post-graduate studies abroad. The translations
each individual is assigned are always within
his/her own field of expertise. Furthermore,
translators translate into their native language
only.
Above
all, the company constantly seeks to ensure that it
provides the highest quality service, and this has
resulted in a solid base of regular, prestigious
clients. Moreover, since 2000 the company's
management has implemented a Quality System in
accordance with EN ISO 9001. The system was adapted
to meet the requirements of the new standard, EN ISO
9001/2000, and was accredited by the Hellenic
Organisation for Standardisation (ELOT) in April
2001 (ELOT EN ISO 9001/2000). The accreditation
encompasses all company activities: translation,
interpreting, dictionary publishing.
The
company relocated its offices to a new private
property covering an area of 200 square metres on
