History
The Wehrheim Translation and Interpretation Bureau was founded in Athens in 1982
by Anne Wehrheim. In 1989, it relocated to Thessaloniki. Glossima was set up in
Paris in 1990 by Savas Pavlidis and Paschalis Dalambakis. With particular focus
on terminology research for the European Commission's EDIC programme, Glossima contributed
to making substantial additions to the Eurodicautom terminology bank, covering the
whole range of technological and scientific fields of knowledge.
In 1992, Glossima relocated to Greece where, based in Thessaloniki, it pursued its
objective of monitoring terminology research more effectively as well as dynamically
entering the Greek translation market.
In 1995, the two translation bureaux joined forces to establish GLOSSIMA & WEHRHEIM
so as to be more effective in responding to the increasing demands of the translation
market, both in Greece and abroad.
Today, with a core staff of 12, the company’s success is due to its selection of
translators/ collaborators. The strict criteria governing their selection include
university degrees and post-graduate studies abroad, experience and awareness of
such areas as product quality and so on.
Above all, the company constantly seeks to ensure that it provides the highest quality
service, and this has resulted in a solid base of regular, prestigious clients.
Moreover, since 2000 the company's management has implemented a Quality System in
accordance with EN ISO 9001. The system was adapted to meet the requirements of
the new standard, EN ISO 9001/2008, and was accredited by the Hellenic Organisation
for Standardisation (ELOT) for all company activities, i.e. translation, interpreting
and dictionary publishing. At the same time, the company has since 2006 successfully
met the ELOT EN IS038/2006-Translation Services Standard. As a result of the efforts
of its staff, GLOSSIMA & WEHRHEIM is proud to be the first certified company in
its field worldwide to bear the above standard.
In May 2001 GLOSSIMA & WEHRHEIM purchased its own 200 square metre open-plan offices
close to the centre of Thessaloniki
